It’s raining out this morning which is when I turn to my Otis Redding vinyl collection and throw on one of my favorite songs ever. ‘Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay.’ I listen to this song almost every day.
Miguel: Kaleidoscope Dream
When Miguel’s album came out last year I was quick to give it some listens and was definitely down with his new tunes. I listened to the Grammy winning song ‘Adorn’ so many times. The album Kaleidoscope Dream has some of my current favorite songs on it like: ‘Do You…’
and another favorite ‘Use Me’:
Miguel has a true R&B style in his smooth voice. He effectively combines great rhythm with jazzy, bluesy and soulful songs. He is currently taking over with his song ‘How Many Drinks.’ The full album is all I could listen to last week and I’ll be hanging onto a bunch of the songs from this album through the summer.
In relation, here is a mash-up of Miguel’s ‘Adorn’ with Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ that I also love, It is by Travis Garland.
Bossy Love: Me + You

I can’t remember where I ran across Bossy Love. Amandah Wilkinson, lead singer of Operator Please which I can’t say I ever listened to. However when I heard ‘Me + You’ I knew i’d be keeping watch on her for some time. That was about a year ago. I haven’t thought about her since, then her cover of New Kids On The Block’s ’You Got It (The Right Stuff)’ came across my dash on Facebook and I’m hooked back onto some Bossy Love.
#1 Listen to her Bossy Love’s ‘You Got It (The Right Stuff)’ below:
#2 Listen to ‘Me + You’
Her songs (like ‘Fight This Off’) remind me of the end of the 80′s and into the 90′s pop music which is why her New Kids On The Block cover is so natural. ‘Me + You’ most currently reminds me of Grimes in a way that the song is just so simple but catchy and sticks in my head. I’m excited for the recent cover post which hopefully means more is to come from Bossy Love.
Little Big Town: Your Side of the Bed
I’ve been on a country music kick recently. After the ACM Awards several weeks ago I was reminded of some of the great new country music out there currently. I had heard the song ‘Your Side of the Bed’ when I first listened through the latest Little Big Town release. It wasn’t until I saw this performance that I was reminded of this song. The performance acrobatic dancers in the bed seemed odd for this country music performance but it is still interesting and the group sounds great. Listen to the song below and then download on iTunes HERE.
This song is likely my favorite Little Big Town song now, just after ‘Boondocks’
Kate Boy – Northern Lights

My latest love is Kate Boy ‘Northern Lights.’ This Australian quartet has all the dance and pop sounds that remind me of some of my recent favorites like Robyn, Lights, Ellie Goulding and Niki & The Dove. Influences like Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush are very present in the music as well. Kate Boy has released the addicting ‘Northern Lights’ and ‘In Your Eyes’ both of which bring creative yet meticulous pop sounds. Side note: apparently ‘Northern Lights’ was written within 3 hours of when the group originally met (Billboard). These two songs give me great anticipation for what the full album release in 2013 will sound like.

The Jane Doze – TJD Spring Break 2013
Put together the words ‘hot’ ‘girl’ ‘duo’ ‘mash-up’ and ‘DJs’ however you want and that is what you get when it comes to the The Jane Doze. I’m guess that is the best way to describe them… here is more.

The Jane Doze take popular music and bring it together for a great fusion that makes all of your favorite pop songs even pop-e-er (if that was possible).
I started getting into this duo about a year ago and have since followed their Soundcloud as they have continued to post more mash-ups. They recently posted this throwback Spring Break mix creatively bringing together all of those Y2K early 2000 hits like Missy Elliot, Ja Rule, Destiny’s Child, TLC, Sisqo and more. It mostly makes me want to get back in my high school ride (a 1986 Dodge Caravan mind you), pop in music that i had ripped from the radio onto a mix-tape and head to work as a Lifeguard to work on my tan. Those were the good ol’ days.
One of the things I love about this duo is how they started, creating music together for fun after their regular 9-5 jobs. They slowly started performing together at their friends request and continued to book more gigs from there. I love quote from The Daily Muse:
“We did this one show in Chicago that would never have worked unless we had the time difference. Jen left after work, flew to Chicago, and went directly to the club to play the set.”
Jen took the first flight back home that morning to make it back for work the next day. They have recently ditched the city jobs to focus on the Doze. With not many female DJs doing what Jen Mozenter and Claire Schlissel are doing I’m sure we have only heard a small portion of what these two have to say. They have a great taste in music as is clear in the first mash-up that I fanned over from their Girls Talk mix. ‘I Know Heaven Is Eternal’ puts together Whitney Houston’s ‘How Will I Know’ with Brandie Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ and ‘Eternal Flame’ by Atomic Kitten. Listen below:
Now get your Doze Bros Tank Top on and jam out to their TJD Spring Break 2013 mix below…also I love these tanks and need to get one.

Current Obsessions: Week of March 18th, 2013
Current Obsessions Defined as: A short list of things that I currently think about on the regular.
1. Barry’s Bootcamp – I started taking a Barry’s Bootcamp class here in the city after seeing it a few times over friends Twitters and Instagram. Barry’s Bootcamp is an hour long class that combines different intervals of running on a treadmill and then floor exercises usually with weights. After the first class I took I wanted to vomit on everyone, but the burn felt amazing. I’ve been back a couple times. Sadly it is a bit steep to be a daily regular as classes run $32 a class.
2. Juice Generation – The smoothies and drinks here are just the best. You can customize your smoothie so you know exactly what is in it. It isn’t Jamba Juice, all these ingredients are fresh. I get the Protein Buzz with Blueberries, Bananas, Almond Milk and Whey Protein. Then I add peanut butter for tastiness.
3. Paul McDonald & Nikki Reed – Every now and then a song comes along that I seem to listen to on repeat on a daily basis. Currently that is the song ‘Goodbye’ from The Best Part EP from this duo. Paul McDonald was actually on American Idol in 2011. Nikki Reed is his wife and is an actress. You may recognize her from The Twilight Saga (i just read that, never seen the movies).

Posting Again in 2013
It has been almost 2 years since I last posted. I’ve been on Tumblr. However, I’m itching to start writing again. So I’ve revamped the site a bit but don’t think I’ll be changing the name. Despite my newest position not being ‘Entry Level’ any more I’m excited to continue to see where I head 2…5…10+ years from now. So It will be nice to look back on previous posts as I often do.
New Music Alert: 30 Seconds to Mars just released ‘Up In The Air’ from their upcoming album Love Lust Faith + Dreams so it only seems fitting that I post this song since, if you don’t know me. I have commited myself to this cult. I ruined my blackberry at 30 Seconds to Mars concert and I’m fairly proud of that.
Preorder the new album on iTunes HERE and get the song ‘Up In The Air.’
I am on Tumblr…
